The 21st century is no longer the era when beauty only caters to women. There is an increasing demand for men’s aesthetic treatment.
Men want to look good too.

How Is Men's Aesthetics Different From Women?

The male face is considerably different from the female face and must be assessed and treated differently. There are 5 unique physical characteristics of men that are important to be taken into consideration during treatment.

  1. Due to male hormones, male facial skin tends to be thicker and coarser. Sweat and oil grands are more active, resulting in more oily and acne prone skin, acne scars, prominent pores and uneven skin texture.
  2. Excessive sun exposure is generally more common among men. In addition, men tend to forget about sunscreen and sun protection. Long-term unprotected excessive sun exposure will result in accelerated skin ageing and pigmentation.
  3. Men have approximately 3mm less soft tissue in the cheek area than women. Therefore, men generally have flatter cheeks.
  4. Men are prone to severe and deep facial wrinkles, while women tend to have more superficial wrinkles. This is due to thicker facial skin, more prominent facial musculature, and lesser fat tissue in the face.
  5. Men are more likely to suffer from androgenetic alopecia, or commonly known as male pattern hair loss.

In conclusion, a man is more likely to look older than a woman of the same age.

Aesthetic Treatments for Men

Pores, Scars, and Uneven Facial Skin Texture

These skin conditions can be improved with laser and injectable treatments such as:

  • Pico Laser
  • CO2 Laser
  • Skin rejuvenation injections such as skin boosters, Rejuran and Profhilo
  • Fillers

Skin Pigmentation and Sun Damaged Skin

Skin pigmentation can be effectively improved by using topical pigmentation cream such as Cyspera and hydroquinone, and laser treatments such as Pico Laser.

Aesthetic treatments such as Rejuran, Profhilo and Filorga NCTF skin booster can be done for men to improve sun damaged skin.

Facial Volume Loss

Men generally have less volume in the face especially in the cheeks. Dermal fillers can be injected into the cheek area to improve the volume deficiency and produce a more youthful look.

Fillers are often used to enhance facial definition in men – nose, chin and jawline.

Lines and Wrinkles

Botulinum Toxin A (botox) injections, laser treatments, and fillers can all help with improving lines and wrinkles.

Due to anatomical differences in the face, treatments should be adjusted and tailored to the male face to avoid over feminization. Hence, the injection dosage and placement may differ slightly from what is done in women.

Hair Loss

Hair loss in men is so frequent that 70% of men will experience it at some point in their lives.

This is where Regenera Activa, a sophisticated regeneration technology created for the treatment of male pattern hair loss, comes into rescue. When used in conjunction with conservative treatments such as hair growth spray and oral hair growth supplement, it works as an excellent therapeutic option for men who are not yet ready for a surgical hair transplant.
